new coffee & climate findings presented at 25th Conference on Coffee Science 2014 (ASIC) in Colombia!

Armenia/Colombia, September 8 - 13th, 2014 – the ASIC Conference joined more than 400 coffee professionals from all over the world, covering diverse fields of coffee science and technology.

Suiting one of the core topics “Coffee Sustainability”, c&c was presented as a new platform which is striving for a coordinated, systematic, science-based and comprehensive adaptation response to climate change. During the session “Climatic & Adaptation”, the results of a climate change assessment carried out in Minas Gerais, one of the c&c pilot regions, were presented. One of our key speakers Ramiro Ruiz Cardenas, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, summed up: „There were many people interested in our results. I think the message was given and understood: Climate is already changing in the main coffee producing region worldwide (MG), as in other coffee producing regions, and we must act now to provide adaptation tools to coffee producers in these regions.”
