c&c´s Pilot Projects Are Making Progress With Risk Assessments

Hamburg, November 8, 2012  –  A central principle of C&C is that adaptation tools must be appropriate to local environmental conditions and coherent with farmers’ needs and capabilities.  Therefore c&c conducted preliminary field research – applying the so-called “triangulation” approach - to determine the current challenges facing coffee farmers’ production systems in their pilot regions in Brazil, Vietnam and Trifinio (Central America).  Data was collected from local experts, farmers and scientific sources and there is significant evidence that the commodity is already suffering the effects of climate change in all three regions, especially in the Trifino area. Details of key issues and suggestions for future steps and adaptation activities that aim to reduce these risks are provided.   For the reports please see the present achievements of our pilot projects:  Brazil, Trifinio, Tanzania, Vietnam.
